The Political Market

Nobody knows what politics is anymore!  Then, what sense does it make to talk about left, right and centre?  Perhaps it makes more sense to talk about above and below or North and South.  A political leader in our country is just a superfluous busybody since we are a cultured, mature nation. Our political forecast should be that of 30 years and not of just 2 months.

Politics is a source of information. Politicians call it the “Society of Information”. It is true because they are vigilant of all our movements. For example, a personalized copy of “The Reason” - which is an American weekly magazine - was sent to its 40 thousand subscribers. Surprisingly enough it contained the receiving subscribers name, portrait and house photo taken from the satellite, published on its front cover.   They know every little tiny bit about us. However, we do not know what is happening on our own heads. We are also monitored from credit cards since they can know what you have bought, where have you been, how many times you visited the sex shop, when you go to meet your favourite prostitute.

Banking is like racism.  Meddling yourself in a Bank’s data will put your freedom to a halt, similar to two years of prison but not if the bank intrudes into your data.

The Maltese main political parties possess a specialized electoral register including your blood group, how many litres of your blood was transfused, if you are an open-homosexual or a low-profile homosexual and most important, they know beforehand for whom you will vote. Again, we cannot have the access to know these details about Maltese politicians, we cannot even know for which party they will vote. I wonder where the Data Protection Act stands in such cases.

If the President of the Republic is brought to court, during the trial he still remains the President of the Republic because when he committed the crime he was ONLY Prime Minister! Surprisingly enough: if found guilty, he still remains the President, no more, no less.  But if a simple Maltese citizen is convicted in court he is subject to social commotion, degradation and psychological torture with a non- refundable suspension, a wife on the loose, even if at the end he’s still the same innocent man (only with a higher dose of an inferiority complex). 

This relation of three is unbearable: two political parties, with a lover on their far left, and a bitch with a powerful voice under the bed. During their presence on state television, you pay during the adverts, when going to the bathroom, when eating or having a nap, but never when you see them. Political parties are surviving through a bank of televisions, a microphone and a jingle. 

The world politics are formed by two large groups, under the World Trade Organization and Business (WTO) rules and regulations. Any law can be done but if against the WTO and the Maastricht parameters the law should change immediately. 

The Nationalist Party promised the Maltese that once in the European Union, Malta will keep its identity and culture. So why does our currency have a best before date of 2007?

We are ruled by the three B’s. Bush, Bin-Laden and Borg Grace.
