The Malta Government is boasting about a GIFT from the EU worth 350,000 Euros.
This consists of products, i.e. 314 tonnes of pasta and 209 tonnes of rice, which form a surplus of stocks from the European Commission.
Is this a joke or another attempt by our politicians to humour us ?
If this is the kind of aid we are going to get from the EU then all I can say is GOD HELP US !

Cikku, Cikku, CIKKUUUUuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu !!!
You missed this part, which, chronologically, was posted before the one above on DI-VE News and was also in the Press - English Lingo this morning :
EU urges Malta to go back on its air service agreements with US

<!-- Present Item --><!-- Title: EmbedUrl -->BELGIUM/ MALTA (di-ve news)--March 17, 2005 - 1340CET--The European Commission sent warning letters to France, Greece, Italy and Portugal and put Malta together with Ireland, Spain, Hungary, Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia on a formal notice, coercing them to go back on their air service agreements with the United States.
Foreign media reported the Commission as saying that it should be allowed to negotiate on behalf of the 25 member states to eliminate any differences in the national agreements whose benefits differ from one country to another.
On Monday, the Commissioner for Transport, Jacques Barrot in his discussions with the US Transportation Secretary Norman Mineta, will try to open the US domestic market more for European carriers, thus generating more competition.

As the GREATEST apolitcal Maltese says " Il Kbir ghadu GEJJ !! " - uttered in public by the one and ONLY Freddie Portelli ( Ex Malta Bums, ex Black Train, ex Valletta United Water Polo Club Champion 1970 ).

Our politicians never seem to learn.
I remember in the early '80s Mintoff used to travel regularly to Abu Dhabi. I used to work there having been more or less exiled by Dom's folly. My local contacts used to comment that 'Here he comes with his begging bowl again.' I remember on one occasion the Ruler of Abu Dhabi, the late Sheik Zayed, gave Mintoff the equivalent of about LM100,000 to shut him up.
They used to refer to Dom as il-Mintuf as in plucked, as in chicken without feathers even, meaning pauper. In Maltese we would say imnittef.
Cikku would probably confirm this.

Joe, the air service agreements with the US is NOT humiliating as this sordid affair ! What are the peoples' representatives in the EU Parliament doing ? Will they allow Malta to become the world laughing stock ?

Guys you are making me feel ashamed being Maltese. I take pride when I say that I am Maltese to the Canadians. They have a very positive picture of Malta.
Thank god their media does not cover what goes on  Mickey Mouse land.
By the way Cikku don't you like Pasta Grana? lol.

this is truly the pits :(
whatever next? are they going to give our MEP's their "hand me down" clothes? would they accept that for themselves? i doubt it.
but on our behalf, of course, thanks for the food - our people don't have enough to eat, they give everything to the flotsam and jetsam that hits our shores in the guise of refugees. a charitable lot they are, so charitable we now have nothing to eat and depend on handouts.
anyone else notice the irony of the accompanying picture on that kind donation link from di-ve? i mean does that particular minister look like he needs feeding?
should i laugh or should i cry ........

Heyyyyyyyyy wait a sec !
This "donation" to Malta was passed on to the Church approved "N.G.O's" , meaning that this "donation" will passed on to NON-Nationals in the likes of Illegal Immigrants et al.
Is THIS "donation" the E.U. contribution to us tax payes to feed these illegal immigrants ?
Can the Caritas Gozo and the M.A.S please GUARANTEE that this donation is NOT passed on to the Illegal Parasites ?
A Noi !!
