Of Africa and Africans
Media treatment of news this week about Africa and Africans was, I thought, highly irritating. Blair's absurd Africa Commission's Report, said to be the most serious analysis of Africa's problems for a generation, will soon see the light of day. If leaks are correct, it calls for doubling of aid, dismantling of trade barriers, writing off of debts, and swift steps to stamp out corruption. Little wonder UK taxes are so high and pensions so low.
Then there's that hideous "Sir" Bob Geldoff and his Red Nose day, whipping up the population to cavort around in public, cadging money to pour down the black hole (in both the astrophysical as well as the literal sense) of Africa.
Apartheid in UK schools
CRE chief Trevor Phillips has called for the introduction of Apartheid in our schools, claiming that children of black African ancestry who have graced us with their presence, should be taught separately, away from the rest of the population. Reasons the media and the chattering classes put forward why black kids fail so badly include all the wrong ones (white "racism", poverty etc) yet they omit the correct one i.e. that a hundred years of psychometric testing using culturally unbiased, standardised tests, show average IQ differences between different racial groups with Eastern Asians (Chinese, Koreans etc) and Jews scoring higher than white Europeans ( IQ set at 100), and Blacks scoring lower. Specifically, to gain Grammar school entry a score of 110 or higher would be required, and whereas 25% of White children score that high, only 5% of Black children do. In higher education, a score of at least 115 is required to gain a good degree - 16% of Whites score this high but only around 2.5% of Blacks. In the US, 25% of Blacks score less that 75 which means that practically no one in that IQ range will graduate from high school, or even learn much of elementary school basics nor find good employment. In the 1960s, the Kennedy administration poured millions into the "Headstart" programme, yet US Blacks still remain predominantly at the bottom of the pile, with recent East Asian immigrants doing well.
As in the US, UK prisons contain a disproportionate number of Blacks (15 to 20% out of a 2% population) yet prison reformers stubbornly refuse to even consider innate racial differences, and instead blame a "White racist society" and a "racist" judicial system. (How they explain high Black achievement in sport remains a mystery).
Silence on race attack
Last week in Birmingham, a young white man, a student from a middle class background, was brutally murdered by three Blacks, apparently for no reason. The media has been silent. Had it been a young Black man (e.g. Stephen Lawrence) murdered by white youths the media would now be in full cry, asking for investigations, plays about it would be written and performed, poems read, millions of pounds spent, doctorates given to the victim's parents, and our British society vilified. But, in this case, silence.
And what about Africa? A perfect example of media lies came on Saturday (March 12th) in the form of BBC Radio 4's "From Our Own Correspondent".
Veteran correspondent Alan Little asked:
"Why is Africa poor? Why has it remained so undeveloped? Look at the immensity of its natural resources - the great Congo river, in places 9 miles wide, has enough hydroelectric potential to power the entire continent and more, yet viewed from outer space at night, whilst much of the Northern hemisphere is a blaze of artificial light, Africa has just three discernible glimmers - at Cairo in the North East, Lagos in the West and the Johannesburg/Pretoria conurbation in the South. Everywhere else, Africa remains the dark continent.
"In an age of global communications, there are more telephone lines on the island of Manhattan than in the whole of Africa - so it is the silent continent too. So again, why is Africa poor?"
He continued "Our Victorian ancestors thought they knew the answer - it was due to an innate inferiority. They built an entire edifice of pseudo science aimed at demonstrating the intellectual superiority of the white races.
"Rudyard Kipling wrote:
Take up the white man's burden,
send forth the best ye breed,
go bind your sons to exile,
to serve your captives' need,
to wait in heavy harness on fluttered folk and wild,
your new caught sullen peoples,
half devil and half wild.
"Post colonial Africa rejected race based answers to the question. The Liberation based generation blamed colonialism. Desmond Tutu once said " when they (the Whites) arrived we had the land and they had the bible. They taught us to close our eyes and pray, and when we opened them again they had the land and we had the bible.""
Alan Little finished his broadcast by saying "Let us answer the question honestly and without fear", yet not only had he conspicuously avoided doing this, by describing evolutionary biology and psychology as "pseudo science", he went a stage further by repeating the old lie that colonialism was responsible for Africa's problems. What is wrong with these media folk, people who are approved of by the few, to hide the truth from the many?
