TA’ QALI – Intemmet b’madwar 99 partitarju Kroat arrestat, u aktar minn 70 persuna jiddaħħlu l-Isptar San Luqa, fosthom ukoll Ministru tal-Gvern u l-Viċi President ta’ l-MFA, il-partita football valida għall-kwalifikazzjoni għat-Tazza tad-Dinja 2006 bejn Malta u l-Kroażja. Il-ġlied qalil żviluppa malli r-referee saffar it-tkeċċija ta' player Kroat lejn tmiem il-partita li ntemmet bl-iskor prestiġġjuż għat-team nazzjonali Malti ta’ 1-1. Riżultat li ma niżilx tajjeb mal-Kroati li issa jeħtieġu rebħa bilfors kontra l-Isveżja x-xahar id-dieħel biex jikkwalifikaw u tilfu posthom f’ras il-klassifika tal-grupp.
Grupp minn madwar 500 partitarju Kroat li kienu fin-naħa tax-xellug ta’ l-Enclosure tal-ground nazzjonali, niżel mal-ħadid biex jikkontesta lir-referee, fejn hemmhekk sabu grupp żgħir tal-Pulizija, iċċirkondawhom u bdew isawtuhom bil-ponn u bis-sieq.
F’dan il-ħin bdew jinqalgħu u jitwattbu kull tip ta’ oġġett fid-direzzjoni tal-Pulizija li ma kenitx armata għajr b’lembubi tas-servizz, kif ukoll lejn l-uffiżżjali tal-MFA li kienu fil-VIP area f’nofs l-Enclosure. Ludovico Micallef, il-Viċi President ta’ l-MFA ntlaqat minn oġġett iebes f’wiċċu u kien jeħtieġ li jittieħed l-Isptar fejn sarulu diversi punti f’wiċċu. Weġġa' wkoll u kien jeħtieġ il-punti l-Ministru Ċensu Galea li ntlaqat minn oġġett iebes. Sadattant, il-battalja mal-Pulizija kompliet tiħrax tant li s-sezjoni fejn kienu l-Kroati tkissret għal kollox u żżarmat mill-għamara li kien hemm. Anki t-taraġ tal-konkos, boltijiet u ħadid beda jitkisser u jitwaddab. Fost il-pulizija midruba, kien hemm ukoll is-Supretendent Pio Pisani.
Nisa, tfal u anżjani li kienu qed isegwu x-xeni mal-bqija tal-partitarji Maltin viċin ta’ l-inċidenti kienu evakwati mill-ground, filwaqt li wasal fil-post ukoll il-Kummissarju tal-Pulizija John Rizzo, li flimkien ma’ l-Assistant Kummissarju Josie Brincat sejħu għall-intervent ta’ l-SAG u aktar Pulizija mill-Għases tal-viżin u ordnaw l-assalt fuq il-Kroati, fejn kompliet il-battalja b’daqqiet ta’ kull xorta. B’kollox kienu arrestati 99 partitarju Kroat li nżammu arrestati u mmanettjati fil-ground, filwaqt li laħaq żviluppa ġlied ukoll barra l-ground bejn il-Maltin u Kroati oħra li rnexxielhom joħorġu minn qalb il-konfużjoni.
L-ambulanzi u teams ta’ paramediċi kienu ġejjin u sejrin mill-Isptar iġorru l-midruba, filwaqt li kelliem għall-Isptar San Luqa spjega li s-sitwazzjoni hi waħda ta’ emerġenża, fejn laħqu ddaħħlu madwar 70 persuna għal-kura bejn Maltin u Kroati.
Il-bqija tal-partitarji Kroati kienu skortati 'l barra mill-ground mill-Pulizija sa l-ajruport fejn baqgħu mgħassa sakemm ittellgħu abbord ajruplani li ħaduhom lura pajjiżhom. Il-bqija ta' l-arrestati ittieħdu d-Depot fi Floriana fejn qed jinżammu u mistennija jitieħdu passi kriminali konrihom fis-siegħat li ġejjin.
Il-Federazzjoni tal-Football Kroat, flimkien mat-team u d-delegazzjoni tal-Federazzjoni esprimew xokk għal dak li twettaq mill-partitarji Kroati, filwaqt li l-President ta' l-MFA Joe Mifsud ikkundanna bil-qawwa l-inċidenti u sostna li l-festa Maltija għar-riżultat u l-wirja prestiġġjuża minn Malta spiżżat imtappna minn dawn l-inżidenti.
Il-FIFA u l-UEFA ħabbru l-bidu ta' investigazzjoni dwar l-inċidenti, filwaqt li nfetħet ukoll inkjesta mmexxija mill-Maġistrat tal-Għassa.

I am trying to immagine the police holding against a riot of about 500 blackies.
On the other hand it gives me an idea.
VM seems to have a lot of members now. Why don't VM organise a protest? About hundred people with banners will be sufficient. Do it in a way so that the date will remain a secret till very last few hours. Then go and enter Valletta, for example when parliament will start again. Try to catch the govenment by surprise.

What worries me is that maltese came out like chickens, or were held not to retaliate. I was not there anyway and i do not know.
Croats are battle hardened people. Maltese should have fought back, insult, give the finger etc. etc.
Are the injured all maltese

Knowing many of the younger police, they would first wet their trousers and then some of their officer would come and try to apper to be negotiating. However if the shit hits the fan, they would surrender or just run away.
A secret protest like that will not work . From a hundred people, all the info woud leak out. And then be sure that Gonzi will take every policeman and soldier that he could spare to guard Valletta. He don't care much for the Maltese, but I bet that he thinks for himself.

MALTESE POLICE ARREST 103 CROATIANS FOR CAUSING STADIUM VIOLENCE
http://www.hina.hr/ico/white.gif
LA VALLETTA/ZAGREB, Sept 8 (Hina) - The Maltese police said on Thursday they had arrested 103 Croatian soccer fans for causing riots at the end of a World Cup qualifying match between the national teams of Malta and Croatia in La Valletta last night.#L#
About 70 persons suffered injuries and were hospitalised. Among those injured were Maltese Communications Minister Censu Galea and Vice-President of the Maltese Soccer League, Ludovico Micallef, who were hit by seats on their heads.
Malta and Croatia played the match as part of the qualifiers in the European zone for the World Cup in Germany. After the game ended in a 1:1 draw, disgruntled Croatian fans demolished a part of the stadium Ta'qalli in La Valetta and clashed with local police. The rioters tore off seats and threw them into a section of the stadium where local fans and VIP guests were sitting. Last night, immediately after she heard of the stadium violence, Croatian Foreign Minister Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic phoned her Maltese counterpart Michael Frendo to express her regret at the incident.

I'm against violence. No Maltese should be hurt even if the person belongs to the adversary. On the otherhand we should do a rematch.
We should make a team and suppoters full of illegal immigrants. Then they will play against Croatia. Then we close the doors of the stadium and see who survives. What do you think?

Memory cards 'confiscated'

Maltese and foreign press photographers had their digital camera memory cards confiscated during the incidents at Ta' Qali national stadium on Wednesday night.
Competitiveness Minister Censu Galea and two Malta Football Association officials had to be treated for injuries. The police said 16 officers, Maltese supporters and three Croatian fans were also injured during the incidents. Over 100 Croatian supporters were arraigned yesterday.
As disorder broke out, photographers on the pitch turned their cameras towards the stand to capture the incidents. But after they had been shooting for a while, policemen and a number of men in plain clothes ordered the photographers to stop shooting claiming that if published the photos could tarnish Malta's reputation.
"We were asked to hand over our memory cards. When we refused, some policemen said they were following orders. MFA security personnel also threatened to confiscate our equipment," The Times photographer Darrin Zammit Lupi said.
Croatian photographer Zeljko Lukunic claimed that the police and stadium security men confiscated his memory cards and damaged his lens when they pushed him against a wall.
"A policeman told me to erase the photos in his presence. I obeyed but stadium security people still took my cards," Mr Lukunic said.
Mr Lukunic said he saw two Croatian colleagues - another photographer and a cameraman - having their memory cards and tapes confiscated after being "manhandled".
He said he was ashamed by the behaviour of the Croatian supporters but said he had never been in a situation where his equipment was confiscated.
When contacted, MFA president Joe Mifsud said no orders had been given to confiscate memory cards.
"It does not seem to me that our people did anything like that," Dr Mifsud said when confronted with what the photographers were saying.

Why don't we organise a group holiday abroad while the CHOGM takes place? That's the only way we can really be safe!
They weren't even able to control a 100 Croats, let alone protect the bigheads from unknown threats during the CHOGM!
I must admit it was hilarious watching policemen trying to defend themselves against flying seats with their batons. I hope they send the film to Paperissima.
And why were the memory cards confiscated? Had there been more photographic evidence of the havoc created by the Croats, I think it would have worked on our side.
I know you will tell me to defend the policemen etc, but I guess those in the high positions who should have known better are still part of the Police Force and therefore can be addressed collectively.
And the court sentence was another farce.

ZAGREB, Croatia (Reuters) -- Croatian media have slammed the national team for their 'shameful' draw in Malta, made worse by rioting Croatian fans who clashed with local police after the game.
Wednesday's 1-1 draw in a World Cup qualifier dented Croatia's hopes of qualifying directly for the finals in Germany next year.
State news agency Hina also confimed that Maltese police had arrested up to 90 rioting Croat fans.
With two games left, Sweden top Group Eight with 21 points, one ahead of Croatia.
"Croat shame on Malta" and "Huge shame suffered at the hands of amateurs" were the main headlines in dailies on Thursday.
"The visit to Malta was a huge shame not only in terms of the final result, but also because of the hooligans, disguised as supporters, who decided to vent their frustration on the stands after the game," the widely circulated Jutarnji List wrote.
Prime Minister Ivo Sanader condemned the behavior of the Croatian fans and Foreign Minister Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic expressed regrets to her Maltese counterpart Michael Frend.
Croatian police have asked Malta for a detailed report on the actions of travelling fans. "Besides dimming our prospects for qualifying directly for the World Cup finals, Croatia's chances to stage the European Championship in 2012 were also diminished greatly," the daily added.
Croatia and Hungary have jointly bid for the Euro 2012.
Coach Zlatko Kranjcar, however, remained optimistic with two games remaining against Sweden and Hungary.
"The lost points on Malta do not change our position dramatically. It was obvious even before that our tie with Sweden in October will decide the group winner," he told the Vecernji List daily.

police should not carry sub-machine guns at all. even non-lethal wepons would have been plenty! (baton rounds, stun grenades, water cannons etc.)

freedom of speech is just an illusion wbgray.
i dont think it is as bad in the USA (YET!)
whenever you see them trying to tighten gun laws over there, treat it as a signal to buy another gun and tons of ammunition. You will need it for when whites become a minority anyway. we dont have the security of the (i think its 2nd) amendment over here in europe. if the government becomes tyrannical, tough shit!
Please tell me (briefly) about gun laws in Malta.

this is europe. we arent allowed to own guns as a defence against the government (big brother is your friend). we do have shotguns for hunters and i think there may be collectors pieces, but they are all licensed and inspected every year. in the event of the government becoming truly tyranical they would pick up all guns very quickly (knowing exactly where to find them).
to my knowledge all of Europe is similar.

Don't forget the ones that don't claim them though!
SAG should be present at the stadium every time and every match, why should we always suffer a mishapening to learn? This system is stupid.

Licenses can and are issued for EVERY gun possible as far as it is legally imported and registered.
Licenses are of two types, 'to carry' or 'to keep'.
Licenses of the 'to carry' type are ONLY issued for hunting shotguns, ranging from pump action to automatic to percussion.
You can only apply for a 'to carry' license after you get a membership in a hunting federation, and get an insurance that covers hunting related mishaps and accidents.
Air rifles and air pistols are never issued a 'to carry' license. While harpoons and certain types of knifes are.
Every now and than the government announces a grace period were citizens can register and get a license for 'illegally' imported or previously unregistered fire-arms. Of course a 'no questions asked' policy is maintained. Fire-arms which were never used in any crime are issued with a license.

Yes Harpoons are issued to keep license. Even professional supercharge ones.
