Car importation tax and immigrants

First of all hi everyone, I havn't posted on VM for quite some time because I'm extremely busy with some other things... But today something sprang to my mind and I just had to find the time to post it here and get your feedback.

You all remember that about 8 to 10 years ago we got hundreds of refugees from bosnia, yugoslavia and serbia. Some of them still live in Malta to this day. Today I happened to see one of them driving a car - with a TF number plate! Cars which have a number plate starting with the letters "TF" have been exempted from paying the importation tax, which makes up about 60% of the price of a new car!

What I'd like to ask is - will the klandestini be allowed to buy cars tax free like the other refugees? Will the klandestini be able to buy a brand new car for less than half the price you and me have to pay???

Niccolo I thought that the TF tax on cars was removed? I had applied for it when I came in 1993. Had to be 20 years living abroad to qualify for the car exemption. But someone who had gone back to Malta recently and told me that the exemption was removed?

wondered where u got to.thought you were dead:D. i've never noticed this TF plate to be honest.
