Seems like the EU that has taken 50 years to grow, will crumble very soon!
The Euro is sliding too.

Il-Franċiżi huma preokkupati bl-immigrazzjoni klandestina. Miljuni huma l-immigranti li deħlin f’pajjiżhom, u li ftit flus qed jisirqu l-postijiet tax-xogħol. Anki din hi kompetittivita’. L-Ewropa, li taf b’din il-problema għadha qed tkaxkar saqajha u għadha ma fasslitx politika komuni, serja u ġusta biex il-kontinent ikollu immigrazzjoni regolata u mhux irregolari.
Mingħajr ma neħodha kontra l-elettorat Franċiż, nistqarr li l-vot qawwi li wassal lill-Franċiżi biex jiċħdu “bi protesta” it-Trattat Kostituzzjonali ta’ l-UE għandha sservi bħala tagħlima lil Bruxelles, biex tagħraf tassumi r-responabbiltajiet tagħha lejn il-ħtiġiet taċ-ċittadini tagħha. Dawn l-istess ċittadini li l-Kostituzzjoni tħares. Il-popli Ewropej qed jitolbu serħan il-moħħ u mhux ansjeta’ f’ċirkostanżi ekonomiċi drammatiċi, fejn f’wħud mill-pajjiżi membri l-qagħad laħaq livelli rekord sforż il-“forżi tas-suq”.
Guess who said that!!

Don't you know that the Gahan is always those 150 years backwards? :) Even when writing a book, whereas in Europe it is Standard to write thin but to-the-point books, in malta many still have the fashion of adding as many content as possible and maps and what have you... Thething is that this was Fashionable in the Renaissance! The Gahan is always kept back!
Erm, the iġħna don't write books.... or are you calling Maltese intellectuals iġħna too??

Exit polls are saying that 63% voted NO
Min jaf il pizza u l ngos x jinkwietaw. This is a day to be bookmarked:D for the future. The downfall of such traitors. People had enough of such idiots managing the country instead of government. I just met a 55 year old Maltese living in Australia.
He get lm450 pension, retired at 48, goes on holiday to USA at least once a year. He told me Malta is getting worse by the hour. Unlike the idiot who wrote on the times who said he is not coming to malta because africans are not treated well, this one told me that, illegal immigrants are still few in number, to what you have to suffer under this EU.\
Howard in Australia is loved by everyone. LAW is there to be respected.. if not you have to suffer badly. Thats why there are not so many africans and Asians, because they have to live in a civilized society. In malta and in EU because you want civilization to remian, that threat u as shit.

Dutch voters 'reject EU treaty'
Exit polls in the Netherlands suggest voters have firmly rejected the proposed European Union constitution in Wednesday's referendum.
The polls indicate that at least 62% of the electorate voted "No".
The BBC's William Horsley in Brussels says the ballot has probably delivered a death blow to the constitution, at least in its present form. The treaty needs to be approved by all 25 EU member states. It was rejected by the French in a vote on Sunday.

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (CNN) -- Voters in the Netherlands have rejected the proposed European Union constitution by 63 percent to 37 percent, according to an exit poll broadcast by Dutch NOS television.
The turnout in Wednesday's vote was 62 percent, exceeding all expectations, the state-financed broadcaster said.
The Dutch rejection is seen as a body blow to the 25-nation bloc after France voted "No" to the EU treaty on Sunday.
Polls closed at 9 p.m. (1900 GMT), with the first results coming in almost immediately.
"We had hoped for a neck-and-neck race (but) ... it looks as if it is going to be a 'No' vote," Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot told CNN earlier Wednesday.
Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende voted at his local polling station near Rotterdam and quipped to reporters and photographers: "You did note correctly that that was a 'Yes' vote, right?"
The referendum is nonbinding, but Dutch leaders have pledged to accept the result if it was clear and turnout was more than 30 percent.
EU constitution supporters made their final appeal to Dutch voters on Tuesday, saying the charter would streamline decision-making in the European Union and create a single foreign minister to give Europe more sway in international affairs.
Balkenende and 80 percent of members of the Dutch parliament supported ratification. But with the French voting "No," the case for a Dutch "Yes" vote went from firm favorite to underdog.
Critics of the charter fear the Netherlands, with just 16.4 million people, will be engulfed by a superstate headquartered in Brussels and dominated by Germany, France and Britain.
Some voters said "No" to voice their discontent with an unpopular Dutch government.
Many are angry about price increases that followed the introduction of the euro in 2002, and some fear that Turkey will soon be admitted to the union, worsening tensions between Dutch Muslims and the non-Muslim majority.
The Dutch "No" will leave European leaders with no clear plan for how to proceed on the constitution, which was intended to ensure the enlarged EU runs smoothly. Ten nations joined the bloc last year.
Meanwhile, concerns that the charter is now close to death helped drive the euro down to seven-month lows against the dollar and unsettled stocks and bonds.
The Netherlands is one of the bloc's founding members and is a nation accustomed to saying yes -- on such matters as Amsterdam's infamous sex parlors and legalizing drugs.
But the murder almost seven months ago of filmmaker Theo Van Gogh and the earlier killing of populist politician Pim Fortuyn prompted a major rethink in this once most liberal of countries.
A suspected Islamist militant is charged with Van Gogh's death. But the Dutch public appears to feel threatened and poised to rebel.
"The whole referendum is not about the constitution. It may be more about the ... euro. Some people are angry about that, so they will now vote for what they wanted to vote five years ago," says political analyst Maurice de Hond.
The outcome of the Netherlands vote will be watched almost as closely as the French rejection, which rocked Europe's political establishment.
It set off a shakeup in Paris, with Dominique de Villepin taking over as prime minister from Jean-Pierre Raffarin. (Full story (http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/05/31/france.eu/index.html/))
"The result raises profound questions for all of us about the future direction of Europe. About the challenges in the rest of the world and the ability of Europe to respond," British Foreign Minister Jack Straw said after the French vote.
After the French result, British Prime Minister Tony Blair said it was too soon to say if the UK would press ahead with a referendum of its own.
So far, nine countries have ratified the constitution: Austria, Hungary, Italy, Germany, Greece, Lithuania, Slovakia, and Slovenia by votes of their parliaments; and Spain by a referendum.
Several countries have indicated their efforts to ratify the treaty will continue, in the hope that the French and Dutch remain the only members to shun the treaty by the time the process ends in October 2006.
CNN's Walter Rodgers contributed to this report

Yeap true pericles.
Imma in Australia law is equal for everyone, being either negro, african etc etc. Asians are not bad as africans, for sure, some of them are well educated.
If they fuck up with the law, they will see prison or deported. After all in malta, if we use the same tactic i am sure, it will be either kordin full, or many will be sent back;)

The Van Gogh murder was a contributing factor to the victory of the No votein Holland. The Europeans are finally being able to make known in no uncertain manner, just what they really think of their politically-correct Euro-politicians and their short sighted policies!
The fact that more people bothered to go vote this time then they did for their MEPS last year says it all!
The true Dutch are fed up with multi-culturalism.
They are trying to wake up from their nightmare.
If Turkey joins the EU it will be the end.

A huge country like Turkey will fill up the EU parlament with muslim MEPs.
Since it is no secret that the allegience of Muslims is to their faith first and foremost, it will only be a matter of time before there will be enough Muslim MEPs to vote in the changing of the EU constitution so that Islam and the Sharija will be the official creed in Europe.
And if anyone thinks that this far fetched, I recommend a good indepth study of Islam (not just the Koran) .
Why , even in tiny Malta, the local Iman has often enough been allowed on the national airwaves promoting Islam and making loud, his aspirations of a future Islamic Malta under Sharija!
Imagine what they will do in the EU parlament if allowed in!
It is no use being tolerant to someone who perceives tolerance as a weakness and a weapon to be used at the right time against whoever is dumb enough to show tolerance to such as these in the first place!
If Turkey will join the EU, I'm sure that Germany will propose a change in the structure of the EU.
If things remain the same, Turkey will have the most seats in the parlament.
This would be a very dangerous situation for Europe.

Has anyone noticed the article of Alfred Sant in today’s L-Orizzont? He is trying to push on the local level this sound byte that the European Constitution has not passed in France and Holland because the voters wanted to give a vote of no-confidence to their government. As the others, mainly the European Socialist, they are trying to push this issue. It’s a total hoax! The Dutch and Frecnh voted against because this is not the Europe they want. And there are many reasons. Immigration, Turkey, Capitalism are some of the few. Those are the main reasons, not giving a vote of non-confidence. The French can overturn the Chirac government in next year’s election and not in a EU Constitution referendum. Got it Mr. Sant?
And by the way, is his guy the one that lead the anti-EU campaign? It’s seems to me that he is now a pro-EU more than Gonzi and friends. He’s a real ‘Lord of U-Turns’!!

The Maltese people should be allowed to vote in a referendum concerning the EU constitution.
The Maltese MPs currently crowding the house of Representatives do not really represent what the people as a whole think of the issue and should not be allowed to express an opinion for us , on this matter.

YES! I heared this BS on the radio during my daily drive to work and I nearly parked on the centre strip! The gall! How many different kinds of idiot do these people make out the French and Dutch to be?!? With what evidence can they say that while the referenda were regarding the eu constitution, the people voted for their governments instead? How ridiculous! This is pure brainwashing, cover-up, damage containment propaganda!:mad::mad:

I'm trying to picture the scene here in Malta, if we do a referendum regards the EU costitution.
Well, the YES will be pushed by the 2 mighty parties. MLP and PN. And what about the AD. They are on the yes aswell. Everyone will say, it's going to be a clean sweep. But there's a voice in the dark. US! We will work for the NO. The KMB will join us and will help us get the Labour supporters who are feed up of the present leadership.
The yes will win with a majority of of over 75%. This will show the Gahan in the Maltese more and more. Those who voted against the EU in 2003 will now vote in favour. Why? Becuase their mighty party will tell them to do so.
And now lets imagine we get around 20% of the votes. What will be the outcome? Everyone afraid of us, everyone will play against us. This will mean that for next election we have the people support.
I think if there was a chance for a referendum, it would be very intresting. It would be a great test for us

the European Constitution has been drafted by the policiticans and not by the people. The people have felt sidelined. That is why they voted NO.
Uncontrolled migration, muslim population and Turkey are on top of the agenda. The reference to GOD in the constitution has been left out. Why? To make way for turkey. What has binded europe througout the ages? It was religion. These politicans think that the people are stupid? Well they got the answer.
What does our PM think that Europe will help Malta in controlling this crises of illegal migration when it is itself in a mess after the France and Dutch referendums?
