VALLETTA, Malta (di-ve news) -- May 27 2005 -- 2013CET - Whilst presenting certificates to Heritage Malta employees, Tourism and Culture Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said that during 2004 over 1.2million persons visited Heritage Malta sites.

Heritage Malta recently developed a Human Resources Department which in turn organised a structured training course for its employees. Training focused on customer care and consisted of a number of lectures by various experts.

Minister Francis Zammit Dimech awarded certificates to the successful employees at a certificate giving ceremony held at the National Museum of Archaeology on Friday evening.

Tourism and Culture Minister said that nowadays customer care is the most important ingredient in the marketing of products. "The visitor's first contact is with the employees on whose conduct depends the visitor's level of gratification and whether these sites have repeat visitors" he added.

Heritage Malta seeks to invest in its staff and strives at "changing the ?culture' of ?culture'" so that the way things are done within the agency will truly do justice to Malta's cultural heritage.

Zammit Dimech ended by saying that the fact that our rich cultural heritage gave us our identity and helped us achieve our sovereignty should never be overlooked.
