Below is a list (by locality) of employers who are believed to employ immigrants who entered
Malta illegally (generally Klandestini) or visa overstayers. Before anybody mentioned in the list below reaches for the phone to call his/her lawyer, keep in mind that we are aware that a lot of illegal immigrants are working 'legally'. Work permits are being issued to so called refugees and persons with 'humanitarian status'. This is encouraging more and more such persons to come here with all the problems that this mass migration brings about. We believe that very soon, Malta will start to experience the sort of civil unrest currently taking place in many European countries. Also many lives are lost at sea every year when these people attempt to reach our shores. Employing such people, legally or illegally, aggravates this problem.
Cheap immigrant labour undermines the local workforce as these workers can afford to accept lower wages than ourselves. It is one of the chief reasons that many wealthier citizens tolerate immigrants. Many immigrants have their accommodation, utility bills, phone cards, transportation and other various expenses paid for by the taxpayer (me and you).
Also by increasing unemployment, immigration helps to keep wages low as a worker shortage would result in wage increases.
You can report other persons by adding the business involved and its locality on our online form here.
