Why is this happening now?
We just saw VF Jeans laying off 570 employees. This past January VF jeans let go 250 of its employees.

Since last week another plastic firm closed down. Is this due to the high cost of the Euro?

Dose not ring well with Gonzi going around that the economy is picking up steam and everything is well. So much so for creating 6000 places of work in the past year?

From what I gathered about what the VF firm said as regards to closure of it's Maltese set up,they are doing what most European companies are doing.Going East where labour costs are cheaper.Boycott Chinese products.Slave labour to pander to the materialistic demand of Westerners.

Jesus ,Mary and Joseph!I'm starting to sound like a socialst:D

Why didn't VF Jeans just lay off Maltese workers and employ the illegals?
Would have spared them the translocation.
Would have pleased everyone!

The KKK would have blessed them!
Christian cretins would have got the raptures!
The Jesuits would have "burned" with enthusiasm!

Harry il-Harja would have danced with Stephen Kakkia!
The Jews would have provided free meals!
And Frattini and Barroso would have congratulated Gonzi for his immagination!

The outsourcing scheme has already done enough damage. There was one time in the past where my trousers were made in Britain, my boots were made in Britain, and my jacket was made in Britain.

Those days need to be revived.

Never thought of that. Yes why bother moving operations to somewhere with Turd World wages? As Mohamed once said, 'if the mountain does not come to us, we shall go to the mountain'. Here we have 2000 nig-nogs ready to work even for 5 cents per hour!

More lay offs from factories. Bortex to lay off 113 employees. What is happening to the manufacturing sector in Malta?
